Hong Kong Country Club

The Hong Kong Country Club site offers beautiful views to the surrounding landscape and the ocean in Deep Water Bay. The area is an escape from the business of Hong Kong, and provides a connection with nature.

The carefully designed new building mass and facade articulation allow the building to become blend into the trees, almost disappearing into the vegetation and the sky, and to reflect the immediate surroundings of the club and its existing architecture. The proposed design integrates the new sports pavilion and supports Hong Kong Country Club’ core values of maintaining cultural diversity, providing a safe, healthy, and private environment for members and visitors, and respecting the community and the environment.

The volumes of the multipurpose gym and the fitness studio are raised up and set within the trees and allow for natural light to filter through the façade to the interior, creating beautiful lighting effects. The raising of the main building forms combined with material choice add a feeling of lightness to the design, allowing it to float within the tree canopy.
