Xiqu Centre in AEDES Exhibit May 27 – July 13

If you are in Berlin this summer, stop by the Aedes Architecture Forum and view the exhibition Constructing Culture:  Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District.

The Exhibit runs from May 27 to July 13.

One of the world’s largest and most ambitious cultural projects, the West Kowloon Cultural District will establish a dynamic cultural quarter on 40 hectares of reclaimed land located on Hong Kong’s iconic Victoria Harbour. The exhibit features a closer look at the landmark architectural that is underway, including Bing Thom Architects’ Xiqu Centre. Bing Thom Architects, together with local architect Ronald Lu & Partners, won the commission for the first major venue of the West Kowloon Cultural District following an international design competition. With construction expected to complete in late 2018, Xiqu Centre is a world-class arts venue specifically built for Cantonese Opera performances, and a centre for the production, education, and research of this unique art form. The eastern gateway to the West Kowloon Cultural District, Xiqu Centre includes a 1100 seat auditorium and 200 seat tea house theatre as well as a large atrium for public performances and exhibitions.
